EFCC Arrests Over 70 OAU Students in Midnight Raid on Off-Campus Hostels

More than 70 students from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, were reportedly arrested by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during a midnight raid on hostels outside the campus.

The raid took place at around 2 a.m. in the Fine Touch and Superb hostels in Oduduwa Estate. The reasons for the arrests have not been confirmed yet. Students’ Union President Abass Ojo mentioned that 72 students were taken from the hostel, and their phones and cars were confiscated.

Some students reported being beaten during the operation. The arrests included female students, and even some newcomers who were merely visiting senior colleagues. In a video, students were seen being loaded into a white Hummer Bus with security officials instructing them to board quickly.
